Health

Being a country with tropical weather there are many diseases to which you can be exposed. Before you leave ask  your doctor for information about  the vaccines you may need. Here are some of the vaccines you will  need:

Malaria: Chloroquine (consult your doctor for the correct dose)

Tetanus, diphtheria and Polio: Combined vaccines: Diftavax – Tetavax

Oral Vaccine Antipoliomilítica (opv)

Hepatitis A and B:  vaccine  against the hepatitis A: Avaxim,
Vaccine against the hepatitis B: Hepativax

Typhoid Fever: vaccine  against the typhoid fever: Typhim Vi

Rabies: vaccine against rabies: Verorab

Recommendations:

Mosquitoes  popularly  known as “zancudos” are very common during the whole year, especially in the summer time. It is neccesary that you use repellent all the time to avoid mosquito bites. Remember that mosquito bites could transmit Malaria.

Avoid drinking tap water because it is not healthy for your stomach. Buy purified water (bottled water) that you find in every supermarket and small stores ( pulperias, ventas) in the country

Do not buy food on the street, the “fritangas” (open air fried food stands) are not very hygienic because the food is exposed to dust, wind and other things.
