Study areas
Our methodology aims to develop, quickly and efficiently, the ability to effectively communicate in Spanish.
We focus primarily on oral expression, but without ignoring grammar, which we consider a fundamental part of the learning experience.
In designing our classes, we make use of the following methods for study:
Practical Classes
Development of listening comprehension and oral expression (conversation)
Development of reading comprehension
Spanish grammar and writing
Getting to know our city (practical application)
Excursions in and around our city (this is part of the package: Getting to know Matagalpa and our culture)
Practical Classes: Our courses combine both theory and practice, and because of this we spend time both in the classroom and in guided walks around the city, in accordance with student preferences. Our classes combine formal learning with fun activities, creating an engaging and dynamic atmosphere.
Development of listening comprehension and oral expression (conversation): The conversations between the student and teacher are based on Discussion topics; for this reason, we are eager to get to know our students personally so that our discussions can be exciting and engaging for you. As well as developing listening comprehension through conversations, we use videos, audio tapes and Nicaraguan music to prepare the student to understand essential information. Learning non-verbal forms of communication is especially important, as this is essential to grasping the subtleties of our culture in daily life.
Our main goal is to develop your capacity to express yourself verbally. Because of this, every class is dedicated to improving your oral communication skills (both sentence construction and pronunciation).

Our experience has taught us that students are usually interested in engaging in the following topics:
Cultural characteristics of Nicaraguans
History of Nicaragua
Politics and current events in Nicaragua
Love and romantic relationships
Myths, stereotypes, and cultural prejudices
Cultural activities: theatre, music, art, etc.
Developing Reading Comprehension: In order to develop reading skills and increase your vocabulary, we primarily use materials that convey the richness of our culture. This enables you to become familiar with our history, traditions, local myths, beliefs and customs. The texts we use vary from popular short stories to literature by critically acclaimed writers.
Spanish Grammar and Writing: In order to enable you to acquire a command of the grammatical structures at each level, we give you a strong foundation of Spanish grammar with written and oral exercises. Students work on a variety of creative writing activities, such as story composition, letter-writing, and notes. We also read a variety of texts: articles, narratives, critical pieces, informative accounts, and advertisements. Through these activities, you will improve your knowledge of Spanish grammar, improve your vocabulary, and learn how to write more clearly.
