The region

Central America is a subcontinent which connects North and South America.

Geographically Central America includes the territory situated in the middle latitudes of America, located between the southern border of Mexico and the northern border of Colombia.  This area includes the 7 nations of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.

The seven countries of this region comprise 8% of the world’s biodiversity, but cover only 1% of the world’s surface area.  Central America is a region bursting with vegetation, nature, adventure, culture, and history.

The Ring of Fire makes Central America one of the world’s most active volcanic areas; the Caribbean has the world’s second largest coral reef.  The mix of races here is also an interesting cultural attraction; Creoles and Mestizas share the same land with more than twenty indigenous groups, characterized by their possession of mysterious lands, grand temples, and petroglyphs in which they expressed their most profound cultural features and their most valued beliefs.
